66m Aglaia: photo’s and video!
Our 66m sloop Aglaia launched in 2011 started off her second Mediterranean season with a spectacular novelty: she now carries a Code 1 artwork by the Norwegian artist Magne Furuholmen. This is the worldwide largest artwork on canvas. Though one can hardly call a 3600 sqm painting a detail, this is yet another confirmation of nearly every single detail of this yacht being extraordinary.
This yacht designed by Dubois Naval Architects carries a large carbon rig which gives a sail area to displacement ratio equivalent to a racing yacht. With the motto to build a 60m+ yacht that sails like a dinghy, we set specific targets like hoisting the main sail in less than two minutes and tacking the boat within 30 seconds. We developed an innovative storage system on two drums in the forepeak for the Staysail and Code 1. In addition, Vitters designed a new type of furler for the Staysail to increase safety of the crew by completely avoiding manual handling for large sail hoisting and setting.
